Translation
As a professionally qualified, trained and experienced linguist with a Magister phil. degree (equivalent to MA) in Theoretical and Applied Translation Studies from Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz and a proven track record (references/samples available on request), I can draw on over eight years' experience of using my language skills in practical business and technical contexts. This has given me a real understanding of the way language is used in a number of specialist fields.
Having worked both in Austria and the US, I am used to producing texts which match the needs of both the European and North American markets.
In detail, my specialisations include the following fields: banking, accounting/auditing, economics & finance, stock market, corporate law, insurance, marketing, contracts, documents & certificates, web sites.
My first and foremost goal is to deliver a translation which both reads naturally and captures the essential meaning of the source text. In addition, I can always, barring exceptional circumstances, meet my clients' deadlines.
I pay special attention to developing close client relationships based on trust, quality, and an appreciation of my customers' needs.
My translations are distinguished by a fluent style, attention to the nuances of the source text, and appropriate register and terminology.
In addition to an ever-increasing number of resources, use of translation memory software (TRADOS 6.5) is helping me to further improve the quality of my services and deliver even better translations.

Proofreading
To rely only on your spellchecker is not enough! Typographic and grammatical errors can detract from your message and ruin your organization's image. Mistakes can also cost you significant time and money. When proofreading your document, I will check for incorrect spelling, punctuation, figures, capitalization, typographical errors, grammar, consistency and layout.
In the event that a document requires a higher level of editing than that ordered, I will immediately contact you before proceeding.

Copyediting
Copyediting is necessary when documents require proofreading and some rewriting and restructuring of sentences to improve style. The use of an expert editor also is highly recommended for translations produced by non-native speakers. If your documents contain errors in the rules of German grammar, spelling mistakes or poor word choices, readers will take this as a sign that your organization lacks skill and professionalism. The way to avoid these problems is to use an expert editor to ensure that your documents convey exactly the intended meaning, information and impression.
